2006 Subaru wrx STi for sale SGM
Steel Gray Metallic
57xxx Miles on the odometer
2 nd owner (bought it at 45k mi)
Location: Sarasota FL
Asking $22500 or best offer
Oil changes done religiously at every 3500 mi- Shell rotella t6. Car does not burn a drop of oil.
When I purchased it leak down and compression numbers came back perfect. No indication that anything regarding the engine has changed in that time frame, however I welcome a PPI or leakdown/compression testing. Brakes are good, tires will need replacing sooner than later, but there is adequate tread.
Car is mostly stock. Previous owner had the car at stage 2 for about 1 month before returning the car back to stock and selling it for a 240sx project. Currently has AP running stage 1 91 OTS map (note, I fill up with 93, but the additional leeway between the 91 tune and the 93 tune makes me more comfortable) and there is a Hallman MBC left over from the Hybrid setup. I have not touched this what so ever and I do not plan to, it can be returned to stock easily or it can be swapped out for a grimmspeed EBCS easily. The car hits 16.5 psi consistently on the 91 or 93 octane tune. Well within the cobb specs for the OTS map. Snorkus delete has been done by the previous owner.
Currently the car is sitting on RCE black springs and rota g force 18x9 +30et with 235 general exclaims stretched on there. I have the stock silver BBS wheels wrapped in brand new winter rubber ready to go as well, and they're included with the purchase price of the vehicle. They're in good condition, but could use a little TLC. The rotas have some rough curb rashing on the 2 drivers side wheels. These can be repaired prior to purchase and we can negotiate that cost. The Wheel Dr happens to be located in my home town, and has already quoted a cost of $300 for both wheels to be repaired. Most customers will change the wheels to something that suits their needs, so I have not had them repaired yet. The car does rub a little under full compression. The fenders have already been rolled. A little rear camber would clear this up, or possibly better tire and fitment. 18x9+30 is fairly aggressive.
I spent the better part of 3 months hunting down the proper STi for my needs. I wanted something reliable, well maintained, and ready to be modded to my specs. Unfortunately life stepped in the way, and the car has remained "stock" since the day I bought it except for the addition of the AP.
Maintenance. Oil changes done religiously within 3500 miles since I owned it, and the previous owner swears he maintained the same schedule. I have no reason to believe differently. At 54000 miles I changed trans and differential fluids with motul, and brake fluid with motul as well, coolant was done at the same time. CV boots, axles and everything underneath the car appears to be in perfect order, There is some surface rust as to be expected of a car of this age, but nothing structural or concerning, a few stuck bolts here and there, but everything is in order as far as the underside of the car is concerned.
There are a few door dings and one small dent on the roof, I have tried to capture these to the best of my ability. I planned to try the "dry ice trick" this summer, and I am 95% sure it would work on these dings. If that failed I was just going to have them popped out. It doesn't look like a dimpled golf ball, but these sorts of dings happen Soccer moms don't pay attention and before you know it a Nissan armada has launched a full on assault into your door panel.
The lip has grabbed its fair share of pavement even at the cars relatively high stature. It's a JNA lip and can be replaced for cheap should you find it too rough for your liking, there is some underside scraping from where the PO grabbed a parking block with the molded in splitters on the front bumper see photos for better explanation.
The car does sport a clear bra on the nose section. It has protected the paint and like most clear bras it is only visible if you are really looking for it. It has protected the paint through 2 love bug seasons now, so I'd say its paid for its self already.
The car has been absolutely fantastic since day 1 when I drove it back from CT to FL. It never misses a beat, is always happy to perform, sticks like glue, and is genuinely a fantastic vehicle. The only reason I am selling it is because I have a huge soft spot for E46 m3's. To me they're the perfect balance of performance and luxury, and they're a fantastic all around car. The desire for a high strung high revving rwd inline 6 has crept its way back into my brain and my heart, and I would like to get back into one of them.

Thanks man, its what people want to know I figure, its what I want to know when I am shopping for a car, and I appreciate it when the owners are forthcoming. No one is going to believe there isnt a scratch on the car after 57k mi, that said, I have done everything in my power to ensure it did not get any more of them!

Fairly common both ways I believe, when I had my e46 m3 I almost traded it away on a hatch STI, when thew '08s were selling slowly and really cheaply.
I always wanted an sti, now, I realize the e46 m3 fits better with my life at the moment. Plus, in FL, there isn't much of an opportunity to have slidey fun due to the no snow thing. Id like a bit more burnout in my life.

even though I'd be losing 30+hp and more torque than id like to think about, that engine has all my want.
It revs so high! Even though it's stroke is larger than it's bore!

Nice STI, you could ask for another $5k at least here in CO. Their value never seems to drop here.

Its such a great engine man, I loved s54, and its really like it revs another 2k over the sti, since we all know 6-7k is wasting time anyways, s54 just pulls to redline, coupled with an smg transmission, its a freeking hoot. It makes a great noise in the cabin, and sounds like a sewing machine outside.
I am getting to the point in my life where I am realizing that there are always going to be faster cars, I cannot afford to make anything faster than those cars, and I just need to enjoy a car as a whole, what it is and what it represents. I always wondered why people would spend a ton of money on something like a 240z, when you could spend the money and get a better car in all aspects. My e36 m3 taught me this, and my friends affinity for e30's has really shown me the way.
the e46 m is my car, maybe I am jaded, but I still really miss that car, like I lost a family member. I always point them out in traffic "See honey? Theres a car like my old bimmer!" and she is all like, "Yeah, so? you have an STi now" and I'm like "you dont get it"
It really is a great car in all aspects minus the stupid window trim that falls if you look at it wrong. Its comfy yet the seats hold you, I did PA to KS and KS to FL in the car with nary a hint of back pain. Its steady and stable. You know how the sti seats bounce you everywhere? well its not really confidence inspiring. The e46 feels planted at any speed, 130 is the same as 30 as far as it is concerned, just the lines on the road blur together.
That, and its a drift monster. Maybe not the best idea for actual drifting, but for spirited power slides, its always happy to comply and do so in a controlled manner, it makes you feel like ken block aint got shit on you, even though you only achieved like 5* of drift angle because your too scared to hit something.

You know, I felt the same way about buying the STi, I just couldn't shake the feeling that one day I would be doing exactly as I am now, trying to find another clean e46 m3. Luckily i have a line on one with only 12k mi!!! thats BRAND NEW! and Rusto from OPPO has agreed to sell me his as well.

Thanks man! I hope they do too. I have a local guy who wants it, and I really want to sell it to him, but I have to wait for his truck to sell so he can buy the car. Problem is I have a line on a 12k mi e46 m3, and that sucker is brand new. Couldn't find a cleaner car unless I bought it straight out of the BMW Welt, but 12k mi m3 guy wants to thump the money down on an m4 he is never going to drive, so he is on a time crunch, so now I am just getting the process rolling. I hope local dude can sell his truck and buy my car, but at this point, I gotta try and do everything I can to snag this car!
